Questions?

Below are a few questions that I thought might be helpful to answer in advance

Will therapy help me?

Most likely yes - the more insight you gain the more choice you will experience about how to approach difficulties in your life. However, you need to have the right therapist to do this with and need to want to experience change.

How do I know if you are the right therapist for me?

For a start, feel into your intuition. I will not be right for everyone and there are so many psychologists and therapists out there with different styles and backgrounds. The therapeutic connection is one of the most telling factors on whether the person will benefit from the trajectory. It’s worth investing time into finding your click.

What does a session look like?

In the first few sessions there are some standard psychoeducation that I find is helpful in order to build upon over the course of therapy. After that it is largely up to you and what your needs are. You will not be following a protocol but rather receive tools from several therapy styles depending on what you come to the session with.

From my experience sustainable change happens slowly and over a long period of time. Most of my clients see me for a few years and once they start to feel they can handle what life throws at them they start to build down. So, they general line starts either weekly or every two weeks then builds further apart. In the end I may act as a safety net that you can call on for the odd session when needed. However, there are also plenty of clients who feel ready after a few sessions. This will be largely a decision we make together about what is most helpful.

Therapy Techniques and
for who

I use techniques derived from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), EMDR and, Systemic Therapy.

With these therapy forms I can guide you through the following symptoms and experiences:

  •  Anxiety and Panic Symptoms

  •  Depressive Symptoms

  •  Gender Identity/Dysphoria

  •  Sexual Orientation

  •  Complex/Trauma

  •  BDSM/Kink

  •  Headmates/Plural identities

I do not take on clients whose primary questions are around:

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Eating disorder

  • Addiction

I see primarily clients 18+, however due to client demand I see clients 12+ if the request for help is around gender/sexuality. In this case it will be discussed with parents what is most helpful for the family/young client.

I am currently a systemic therapist in training and offer relationship and families in this style of therapy.
